Palm Beach OutletsNew England Development CEO Stephen Karp thanked a litany of people for accomplishing the task, including his partners at Easter Real Estate and Lubert-Adler who helped buy the Palm Beach Mall site in 2010 for $35.5 million. They likely spent another $200 million building the outlets. An estimated 1,000 people have been hired to staff the initial stores, and hundreds more local workers helped build the mall. Meanwhile Friday, traffic backed up on Interstate 95 near the outlets’ Palm Beach Lakes exit. The parking lot was jammed and some shoppers parked across the street at Target. Stores were packed and lines were long — at Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH they were 20 people deep. |
